Nothing speaks more of a marine ensemble than a striped sailor shirt or sweater. Stripes epitomize French chic, and given that the canvas that inspired me this week was painted in France and its subject is nautical, I had no choice but to incorporate them in this outfit.
A Breton stripe top usually includes a boatneck, which accentuates the stripes, and the stripes typically make their entrance in the area of the chest bone. This shallow sea sweater from JCrew is a perfect illustration of the Breton classic, and besides its beautiful tint and lovely boatneck, I like the contrast that the slim and thick stripes create. I would wear it with pushed up sleeves and a few splashes of bold color to bring together the look and create the proverbial “je ne sais quoi”.

Until next time,
Bodhi
